About Belmore Basin
Belmore Basin is the historic small-boat harbour at Wollongong Harbour, and it is also home to a commercial fishing fleet. The first basin was built by convict labour and finished in 1844, and an extended basin opened on 6 October 1868 and was named after the Governor, the Earl of Belmore. The NSW Government listing records public toilets, a car park, a picnic area with tables, showers, a cafe and a playground, and says entry is free.
