Advertising terms

Each package lists its deliverables: where your placement appears, for how long, whether it is in our weekend email, and the minimum amount we spend on Facebook, Instagram or Google ads for you. Those are the things we guarantee.

We do not guarantee how many people will see, click or respond to your placement or your ads. Results vary. After a campaign we send you the ad platform's own report and our on-site counts, as recorded, so you can judge it for yourself.

We never claim a number of visitors, readers or reach for Wollongong.life, and nothing on our site or in our emails should be read as one.

Every paid placement on Wollongong.life carries a Featured, Sponsored or Sponsor label. Sponsored stories are marked as advertising at the top.

Posts about your business on our own Facebook and Instagram carry Meta's Paid partnership label. Ads we run in Meta carry Meta's own Sponsored label.

Paid items are never more than 1 in 8 of what we show in a list, a featured event only appears in lists for the days it is on, and paying never overrides a visitor's filters. Our staff Picks cannot be bought.

The ad spend in a package is a floor, ex GST. We spend at least that amount on your campaign within its dates, and your report shows what we spent.

If an ad cannot run (the platform rejects it, or your event is cancelled or moved), we refund the unspent ad money or roll it forward to a new date, whichever you prefer.

Gambling and betting promotions.

Political or electoral advertising without the authorisation statement the law requires.

Alcohol promotions, except to people 18 and over and in line with the ABAC code.

Anything unlawful, misleading, discriminatory or unsafe, anything that breaks Meta's or Google's advertising policies, and anything we reasonably think does not suit a local guide. If we refuse a booking, we refund it in full.

You confirm you have the right to use the words, images and logos you give us, and that what you tell us about your event or business is accurate. We may shorten or adjust ad copy to fit a platform's rules, and we show you the ad before it runs.

Prices are shown ex GST, with GST (10%) added at checkout and on your invoice. A placement goes live once it is paid and we have checked the details. Unpaid bookings hold their slot for 7 days.

The community rate is 50% off our part of a package, for community groups and not-for-profits. The ad spend stays at cost. We check eligibility; if a booking does not qualify we will ask you to pay the difference or cancel it with a full refund.

Cancel before your placement starts and we refund you in full. After it starts, we refund any ad spend not yet spent. Monthly packages can be stopped at the end of any paid month.

Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
