About ilu ilu Bar
ilu ilu bar is an Indian-inspired cocktail bar and Indian tapas venue at Retail 5 in the Signature Building, 10-18 Regent St, Wollongong, in the Illawarra, with its entrance on Rawson St. Owners Ruchi and Jason opened it during COVID to pair authentic Indian flavours with creative cocktails in a warm, contemporary room.
The food is Indian food you would not typically find in an Indian restaurant, made to be shared like tapas rather than eaten as individual meals. The menu runs from nibbles such as spiced peanuts and bhakarwadi to plates like dahi puri, samosa chaat, chicken barra, lamb champaran and butter chicken fondue. Set menus for two or more include a six-dish tasting menu and an all-veg selection, and The ilu ilu Experience pairs each set menu with three cocktails per person.
The drinks list is built around Indian-inspired cocktails, grouped as Forbidden Fruit, Floral Garland, Spice and Indian Sweet Shop, alongside classics, non-alcoholic drinks, wine, beer and cider. Regular events include live jazz with the Eric Dunan Trio every Thursday from 6:30pm to 9pm, Bottomless Brunch every Saturday from 2pm to 4pm, and monthly comedy nights.
Tables can be booked online through the venue's reservations page, and private functions are arranged by email. The bar is open Wednesday to Saturday from 5pm (2pm on Saturday). Gift cards are available in any amount, in person or online.

Every Saturday from 2pm to 4pm: two hours of bottomless drinks (two freshly made cocktails and sangria, changing monthly) with a rotating Dish of the Month, for $75 per person. It is one sitting only and spots are limited.
